I used to use Daz (briefly), just found it too annoying. You can do all this while Poser is running, just hit the refresh button on the Library. I've made that sound more complicated then it is.Īlso I have a runtime called " !newtest" That I can quickly throw something new into it to see if I like it and to test it before I move it to a 'proper' location. So I never actually "install" them, or use the uninstaller etc. Then drag the "runtime" folder into the correct poser runtime. annoying stuff from the Daz3d site), I just 'install' to a temporary directory. What those categories are is up to you.Īll the content that comes with installers (i.e.

I did that for all my V4 characters so I knew their body type, skin tone, facial structure, SSS, pubic hair etc etc, But it got so dull and made me realise that I'd bought a LOT of really crap characters with stupid perfectly smooth skin that just looks like plastic).
Categorized runtimes is the only way to keep track (Well, you could just write everything down in a spreadsheet. Then you'll have 10 items, and go away for a weekend, and you'll have forgotten where stuff is, then you'll have 100 items and have no chance of finding anything. You will be fine at first, and remember what everything is. xml file if you want to copy&paste or change the order (Is there a way to automatically change the order that I have missed?)ĭO NOT just start adding new content to your Poser runtime, or the Downloads runtime. These runtimes can be quickly added to the Poser library with a click.
Same for Sledgehammer and a couple of others. I also have almost all of Davo's stuff as I am a colossal pervert, so I have a separate Davo runtime, and another LilFlame runtime as the LilFlame stuff is sublime. And in that I have organized all my stuff: Clothes-Everyday, Clothes-Lingerie, Hair, Lights, etc etc. I have a directory called C:\PoserRuntimes. The default poser content will be installed right there (Or f:\MyPoserPlace or whatever you want to call it).Ģ) All of my 'extra' poser content is in separate runtimes.

I can't wait for SSDs to get bigger and cheaper so that I can put my content in one.ġ) Remember where you install Poser. With no antivirus or other crap running, it boots in 14 seconds and Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere leap to the desktop as fast as I can click the icon. My graphics computer is NOT online and I have many services turned off. You wouldn't believe how fast they load! It's almost scary.

I've posted this question in a couple of other forums and am going for a consensus.īy the way, if you're building a new computer, use an SSD for Windows and your programs. I did this in Daz but had the problem of uninstallers not showing up.anywhere. I wish to install ALL Poser content in one of those drives and NOT in 'my documents'. I have four 2TB conventional drives for all my stuff. I have a small SSD (250GB) which is just for Windows and programs. I'm moving to Poser from Daz (fed up with Daz's garbage and lousy programming) and have purchased the latest Poser Pro 2014.
